Hey there, my name is Nikki!
So here is a little bit about me… I have my diploma in fashion design and marketing and I currently work in the footwear industry (footwear development to be a little more specific). Design and creativity have always been a big part of my life, more so now that i’m more settled down than I was in my early 20’s.
I’m an avid DIYer, which range from refinishing/rescuing old furniture to painting vases, barnwood projects and making throw pillows. The list does go on! I’m always thinking of some way to improve my home’s decor. Some of my other hobbies include canvas painting, thirfting (who doesn’t love an awesome deal on clothing??), going to garage sales and antique shows. My new found hobby is entertaining our listeners (you guys) in The Lady Dicks podcasts!
Friends and family are a big part of my life, especially my fur baby, Niska. I call her my baby, but in reality already a ‘senior’, she’s already 7 years old! Niska the absolutely the cutest with a quirky personality, much like her human mom. I try my best to make time for exercise as well as eat healthy! My favorite sport is Gymnastics, which I participate in an adult class once per week and absolutely love being a part of that environment. I mean i get to be around great people, learn new things, face my fears and get a great work out in the process, what’s not to love?
Some of my biggest accomplishments to date are winning scholarships in college for creativity on my portfolio and best tailored suit. Not to toot my own horn but I also achieved a 4.0 GPA, I feel quite proud of that. I purchased my first house, on my own (that’s right no man contributed!), at the age of 25. This was a goal of mine since I graduated high school (lame I know, but had my reasons). Just goes to show that you can achieve anything you put your mind to, if you stay committed and determined to get those results.
I’m very excited for this next phase of my life, where I get to work with a couple of my best friends in podcasting. Also, I’m working on my own side project, starting my own business… stay tuned!
